PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan has served a Rs100 million defamation notice on Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MPA Shafi Jan over remarks made in the provincial assembly.
According to the notice, Mr Jan, while speaking on the assembly floor on Aug 22, levelled “baseless allegations” against the ANP leader, accusing him of “taking dollars on the heads of the Pakhtuns”.
The notice further stated that the PTI legislator later shared the video of his speech on his personal Facebook page, thereby amplifying the “false and damaging claims”.

“My client has suffered deep anguish due to these unfounded and serious accusations,” the notice read, demanding that Mr Jan tender an unconditional apology within 15 days and delete the video from his social media page.
Failing to comply, the notice warned, legal proceedings would be initiated against the PTI lawmaker in accordance with the law.
