Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Friday issued a fresh weather advisory forecasting more monsoon rains accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds across various regions of the country from July 21 to 25.

According to the Met Office, humid currents from the Arabian Sea are likely to penetrate Sindh and upper parts of the country, while a westerly weather system is expected to influence northern areas beginning July 21.

In Karachi and other parts of Sindh, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated at isolated locations from July 18 to 20, with the possibility of heavier downpours in the province’s upper districts during this period. Balochistan, particularly its central and northeastern parts, is likely to witness heavy rainfall between July 19 and 22.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), including its mountainous regions, is likely to be affected by rain-windstorms between July 21 and 25, while Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir are also expected to receive showers accompanied by strong winds during July 20–25.

In Punjab and Islamabad, windstorms and rain are predicted in most districts from July 20 to 25.

The PMD has warned of potential landslides in Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, and parts of Gilgit-Baltistan from July 21 onward due to persistent wet conditions.

There is also a threat of flash flooding due to monsoon rains in local streams and nullahs in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and KP, particularly in areas vulnerable to rapid runoff. In addition, urban flooding may occur in low-lying neighbourhoods of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Galiyat, and parts of Punjab.

Authorities have been urged to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to mitigate the impact of the approaching weather system.
