A sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in the foothills of Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush mountains, near Maidan Shar in Maidan Wardak province. This incident has emerged as one of the most geopolitically significant drone events in South Asia in recent years. Forensic analysis of wreckage imagery has confirmed that the drone was India’s advanced MQ-9B SkyGuardian platform, disproving earlier speculation that it was an Israeli-made Heron UAV.

The circumstances surrounding how the drone reached this location remain a mystery that defense observers are actively investigating, given the absence of any direct diplomatic or military ties between India and Afghanistan under Taliban rule.
