RAWALPINDI: Lieutenant General William Agyapong, Chief of Defence Staff of Ghana, called on Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday, where both sides discussed enhanced defence cooperation and regional security matters.
Upon arrival at GHQ, the visiting dignitary was presented a guard of honour by a tri-services contingent. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security and military-to-military cooperation were discussed.

Both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral defence relations, with a focus on joint training, counter-terrorism cooperation and defence production. The Ghanaian military leadership praised the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their role in promoting regional stability.
Separately, National Security Coordinator of Ghana Abdul Razak Osman also held meetings in Islamabad with Pakistan’s naval and air leadership.

He called on Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters and later met Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters.

During the meetings, both sides reviewed avenues for expanding defence collaboration, training exchanges and institutional cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.
Lieutenant General William Agyapong was also present during the engagements at the naval and air headquarters.
The meetings concluded with an agreement to maintain closer coordination and deepen defence ties through continued engagement and structured cooperation mechanisms between Pakistan and Ghana.
