ISLAMABAD: Commander of the Bahrain National Guard General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa on Tuesday praised the role of Pakistan’s Armed Forces in promoting regional peace and stability and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in training and capacity-building initiatives.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Bahraini commander held separate meetings with Pakistan’s tri-services chiefs during his official visit.
At the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, General Shaikh Mohammad met Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir. During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, the regional security environment and opportunities to enhance bilateral defence and security cooperation.
The two military leaders expressed satisfaction over the longstanding brotherly relations between Pakistan and Bahrain and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening military ties.
Earlier, the Bahraini commander met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at Naval Headquarters, where discussions focused on bilateral defence collaboration and regional maritime security.
General Shaikh Mohammad commended the Pakistan Navy’s contribution towards cooperative maritime security and appreciated its role in maintaining stability in the region.
He also called on Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters.
During the meeting, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu highlighted the Pakistan Air Force’s modernisation efforts, including capability enhancement, infrastructure development, indigenous production and advanced training reforms.
The two sides also discussed emerging defence technologies, including drones, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, advanced sensors and digital innovation, as well as evolving air defence challenges and integrated defence frameworks.
General Shaikh Mohammad praised the professionalism, operational readiness and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s Armed Forces. He also acknowledged the military’s modernisation initiatives and indigenous defence capabilities.
According to the ISPR, the visit reflects the strong and enduring defence partnership between Pakistan and Bahrain and is expected to further strengthen bilateral military cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
