ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has rejected what it called “baseless allegations and propaganda” from India linking it to the Pahalgam incident, urging New Delhi to act responsibly and avoid steps that could harm regional peace efforts.
In a statement, the Foreign Office said it was “deplorable” that India had again attempted to associate Pakistan with the incident at a time when diplomatic efforts were underway with international partners to promote regional and global stability.
The statement accused India of attempting to “weaponise” what it described as a false narrative for domestic political purposes amid ongoing regional tensions.
It further said such allegations were part of a recurring pattern and diverted attention from the situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), reiterating Pakistan’s position on the right to self-determination under United Nations resolutions.
The Foreign Office also accused India of undermining regional peace through “inflammatory rhetoric, repeated provocations, and aggressive military posturing,” including its decision to place the Indus Waters Treaty suspension in abeyance, which Islamabad described as a violation of international commitments.
Pakistan urged the international community to encourage restraint and responsible behaviour, saying such actions were necessary to avoid disrupting ongoing efforts for peace and stability in the region.
