ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has clarified that visa-free entry for participants of Islamabad Talks 2026 will be limited to delegates and journalists from Iran and the United States, the Foreign Office said on Friday.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi, in a post on X, said the arrangement applies strictly to nationals of the two participating countries and will remain valid only for the duration of the talks.
“This facility… does not cover third-country nationals,” he clarified.
The statement came after earlier remarks by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, who had said that participants would be granted visa-on-arrival and that airlines had been instructed to allow boarding without prior visas for those travelling for the event.
Dar had also welcomed incoming delegates and journalists, saying Pakistan was ensuring smooth entry to facilitate international participation.
The Islamabad Talks 2026 are expected to bring together delegations from Washington and Tehran for negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing conflict involving Iran, following a Pakistan-brokered ceasefire.
While the Foreign Office has yet to release detailed agenda points, authorities have tightened security arrangements across the federal capital ahead of the high-level diplomatic engagement.
