ISLAMABAD: The district administration in Islamabad has declared local holidays on April 9 and 10, ordering the closure of all schools and offices across the federal capital.
According to an official notification, all educational institutions as well as government and private offices will remain closed on Thursday and Friday. However, essential services, including municipal and emergency departments, will continue to operate without interruption.
The notification specified that key institutions such as MCI, CDA, ICT Administration, ICT Police, IESCO, SNGPL, and hospitals will remain functional during the holidays period.

The development comes as Pakistan prepares for high-level diplomatic engagements following its role in mediating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
US President Donald Trump recently agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran, averting further escalation shortly before a critical deadline linked to the Strait of Hormuz.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited delegations from both countries to Islamabad on April 10 for talks aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement. He expressed hope that the “Islamabad Talks” would lead to sustainable peace and further positive developments in the coming days.
Officials say the holidays will facilitate administrative arrangements and security preparations as the capital hosts the crucial diplomatic meetings.
