RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir has said that violence in Pakistan on the basis of incidents occurring in other countries will not be tolerated.

The remarks were made during a meeting with ulema from the Ahl-e-Tasheeh community in Rawalpindi, where matters related to national security and the role of religious scholars in promoting harmony were discussed, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations.

The military’s media wing said the army chief highlighted the important role of ulema in fostering unity, tolerance and national cohesion, particularly in countering misinformation, sectarian narratives and externally sponsored destabilisation efforts.

During the meeting, Munir also briefed participants on Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at regional de-escalation. He emphasised that religious sentiments must not be exploited to incite violence, reiterating that such actions would not be tolerated within the country.
