WASHINGTON: The United States Department of State has announced a reward of up to $10 million for information on senior Iranian military and intelligence officials, including Mojtaba Khamenei.
According to the department’s website, the reward targets 10 officials associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which was established following the Iranian Revolution and is tasked with protecting the country’s clerical establishment.
Mojtaba Khamenei recently succeeded his father, Ali Khamenei, after he was killed along with several senior Iranian officials in joint strikes by the United States and Israel that began on February 28.
The younger Khamenei, who is believed to have been injured in the strikes, has not appeared publicly since but released his first statement on Thursday.
In addition to Khamenei, the US is seeking information about several other senior figures, including security chief Ali Larijani, Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni
