KARACHI: The Government of Sindh has announced that all educational institutions across the province will remain closed on March 11 (Wednesday) on account of Youm-e-Ali, which marks the martyrdom anniversary of Ali ibn Abi Talib.

According to a notification issued by the provincial government, all public and private schools and colleges will observe the holiday on the 21st of Ramadan.

The decision was taken in pursuance of recommendations made by the Sindh sub-committee of the steering committee on education.

Youm-e-Ali is observed every year on the 21st of Ramadan, when large processions and gatherings are organised across Pakistan to commemorate the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (RA).

In a separate development, authorities in Islamabad have announced a spring break for educational institutions operating under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

According to an official notification, schools and colleges in both urban and rural areas of the federal capital will observe spring break from March 24 to March 27.

“Spring Break shall be observed in all educational institutions working under the ambit of the Federal Directorate of Education w.e.f. 24-03-2026 to 27-03-2026,” the notification stated.

Following the break, educational institutions will reopen on March 30 (Monday), while teaching staff will be required to ensure attendance to complete the compilation and announcement of in-house annual examination results.
