ISLAMABAD: Negotiations between the government and the opposition have seen significant progress this week, according to sources.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to meet Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai. Sources said an important contact was made on Monday at the Parliament House to arrange the meeting.
Sources added that Rana Sanaullah played a key role in facilitating communication between the prime minister and the opposition leader.
The meeting could not take place on Monday due to former president Asif Ali Zardari’s presence in Karachi, sources said.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reportedly wants to take President Asif Ali Zardari into confidence before holding talks with Mahmood Khan Achakzai.
Sources further said that the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Pakistan, along with the prime minister’s busy schedule, caused a delay in the planned meeting.
The prime minister is now expected to meet opposition leadership during the next session of the National Assembly. Sources said he may visit the opposition leader’s chamber along with his delegation.
Rana Sanaullah confirmed that once the prime minister comes to Parliament, he will meet the opposition leadership.
