DPM Dar chairs committee meeting to review sugar supply, prices

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday chaired a meeting of the committee to review sugar availability and prices across the country.

The meeting reviewed progress on the disposal of imported sugar, sugar production for the 2025–26 season, and prevailing market prices. The committee expressed satisfaction over a downward trend in sugar prices at both the ex-mill and retail levels.

Dar directed concerned provincial departments to ensure that farmers receive fair prices for sugarcane in a timely manner.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the provinces, the federal minister for national food security and research, special assistant to the prime minister Tariq Bajwa, the secretary of the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, a member of the Federal Board of Revenue, the chairman of the Trading Corporation of Pakistan, and senior officials from relevant departments.
