LONDON: The United Kingdom has deported Pakistani YouTuber Rajab Butt, who now faces possible arrest upon landing in Pakistan, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
According to sources, Butt departed for Pakistan early this morning on a scheduled flight after UK authorities cancelled his visa.
The YouTuber had recently left the country after announcing a temporary break from vlogging, following mounting controversies and legal scrutiny. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has registered a case against him for allegedly promoting online gambling and betting applications.
Case Details
As per the FIR, Rajab Butt used his social media platforms—particularly video content and advertisements—to encourage people to invest in gambling apps, allegedly causing financial losses to viewers. He is also accused of acting as a brand ambassador for a well-known betting platform.
Officials said that despite repeated notices, Butt failed to appear before investigators, leading authorities to proceed with a formal case.
In addition to gambling-related charges, Butt also faces allegations of disrespecting Islamic figures, with a petition currently pending in the Lahore High Court.
Rise and Recent Controversies
Rajab Butt commands a significant online presence with a YouTube following of approximately 7.74 million subscribers. He also recently became a father to a baby boy.
His troubles intensified when a viral video clip of an alleged inappropriate conversation with popular influencer Samiya Hijab circulated widely online. The clip, reportedly taken from a private TikTok live session, showed Butt making comments about Samiya’s body. His remarks, including calling her “beautiful” and commenting on her midsection, sparked backlash across social media.
The controversy added fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding influencer behaviour, digital responsibility, and ethical standards on Pakistani social media platforms.
With Butt’s return to Pakistan, authorities are now preparing to take the next legal steps as investigations move forward.
