ISLAMABAD: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has confirmed his participation in the upcoming National Finance Commission (NFC) Award meeting, saying the decision was taken after consultations within the parliamentary party.
Afridi said the tribal districts, merged with KP in 2018, have still not received the funds pledged to them. He added that between 2018 and 2025, the province has repeatedly been deprived of its due financial share under the NFC Award.
Calling the NFC Award a constitutional right of the people of KP, he stressed that the issue was not personal but a matter of provincial justice. He said every segment of society had the right to speak up on matters related to the province’s financial entitlements.
The chief minister urged the federal government and all stakeholders to ensure fairness and transparency in fund distribution. Equitable allocation of resources, he said, was vital for the socio-economic uplift of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and for addressing long-standing regional disparities.
The NFC Award has long played a central role in maintaining fiscal balance and national cohesion. Afridi and other provincial leaders argue that timely and fair implementation is essential not only for development but also for reducing poverty, improving public services and promoting economic stability across Pakistan.
