Pakistan Navy delivers rapid humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka after Cyclone Ditwah

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Saif, currently docked in Colombo for the International Fleet Review 2025, has launched immediate Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations for communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah, according to a statement issued by the Directorate General Public Relations (Navy) on Saturday.

The cyclone and subsequent heavy rains have caused extensive destruction across Sri Lanka, prompting Pakistan Navy personnel to support local authorities in relief efforts. As part of the initial assistance, PNS Saif handed over food staples, Meals Ready to Eat, dry rations, first-aid kits, emergency medicines and essential equipment to bolster the country’s ongoing relief operations.

The Navy said further humanitarian support will continue in line with emerging requirements as Sri Lankan authorities assess the scale of damage.

The statement added that Pakistan Navy’s swift response highlights its commitment to international humanitarian obligations, regional stability and standing in solidarity with friendly nations during crises.
