Pakistan, UK discuss joint efforts for regional peace and security

RAWALPINDI: General Sir Charles Roland Vincent Walker, Chief of the General Staff (CGS) of the United Kingdom Army, called on Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), at General Headquarters (GHQ) on Monday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security, and measures to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation. The two leaders reaffirmed the importance of continued collaboration to promote peace and stability in the region.

The visiting UK Army Chief lauded Pakistan Army’s achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, as well as its contributions toward regional peace and stability.

Earlier, upon his arrival at GHQ, General Walker laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay tribute to Pakistan’s martyrs. He was also presented with a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army.
