Pakistan has taken a major step forward in digital transformation and artificial intelligence through a new partnership with Meta. The collaboration aims to strengthen Pakistan’s digital ecosystem, support innovation, and expand opportunities in emerging technologies.
During a key meeting between the Federal Minister for Commerce and a visiting delegation from Meta, both sides discussed enhancing cooperation in digital trade, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence. The meeting was facilitated under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), which continues to drive progress in Pakistan’s IT and digital innovation sectors.
The Federal Minister for Commerce noted that Pakistan’s digital economy is among the fastest growing in South Asia. He highlighted that over 75,000 IT graduates enter the workforce annually, reflecting the nation’s expanding talent base in technology.

According to the minister, Pakistan’s IT and related exports have witnessed significant growth. In the previous fiscal year, IT-linked exports increased by 18 percent, reaching 3.8 billion dollars. In the first quarter of the current fiscal year alone, IT exports rose by 21 percent year-on-year to 1.06 billion dollars.
Under the National E-Commerce Policy 2.0, Pakistan aims to achieve a 20 billion dollar e-commerce market by 2030.
Meta representatives expressed keen interest in deepening collaboration with Pakistan in the fields of digital growth and artificial intelligence. Both sides agreed to establish a long-term partnership to accelerate digital innovation, promote entrepreneurship, and empower creative industries.
The SIFC reaffirmed its commitment to advancing AI development, digital capacity building, and fostering innovation across Pakistan’s economy.
