ISLAMABAD: A delegation from Meta called on Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan to discuss digital cooperation, artificial intelligence (AI), and avenues for enhancing Pakistan’s digital economy.
During the meeting, Jam Kamal Khan appreciated Meta’s engagement in Pakistan’s digital landscape, noting that the country is among South Asia’s fastest-growing digital economies. He highlighted that over 75,000 IT graduates enter Pakistan’s workforce every year, contributing to sustained digital growth.

The minister shared that Pakistan’s IT and IT-enabled services exports have increased by 18 percent, reaching $3.8 billion, while exports in the first quarter of the current fiscal year surged by 21 percent to $1.06 billion.
He informed the delegation that the National E-Commerce Policy 2.0 is in its final stages, targeting a $20 billion market by 2030. He invited Meta to collaborate in areas such as AI ethics, digital safety, and e-commerce standards.

Jam Kamal Khan also noted that Pakistan has made significant progress in advancing artificial intelligence through the National AI Policy 2025 and the upcoming Digital National Pakistan Act. He invited Meta to partner in AI skilling programs for Pakistani youth.
Meta’s Regional Director Rafael Frankel commended Pakistan’s strides in digital development and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding cooperation. He expressed Meta’s interest in supporting digital training programs for Pakistani entrepreneurs and SMEs.
Both sides agreed to strengthen collaboration in technology-driven innovation, ensuring a safe online environment, and promoting economic empowerment through digital inclusion.
