CJCSC highlights mutual respect in defence partnership with Bangladesh

RAWALPINDI: Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), during his official visit to Bangladesh, met with Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, and Principal Staff Officer Lieutenant General S. M. Kamrul Hassan.

In the separately held meetings, both sides discussed the evolving global and regional security environment and emphasized the importance of enhancing bilateral defence and security cooperation. The CJCSC reaffirmed Pakistan’s appreciation for its longstanding fraternal relations with Bangladesh and underscored the shared commitment to further strengthening these ties based on sovereign equality and mutual respect.

Both sides expressed optimism about expanding military-to-military collaboration, training exchanges, and strategic engagements to promote regional peace and stability.

During the visit, General Mirza also toured the School of Infantry and Tactics in Sylhet, where he interacted with faculty members and students. The civil-military leadership of Bangladesh lauded the professional excellence of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their achievements and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

Earlier, upon arrival at Senakunjo, the CJCSC was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent and also laid a wreath at Shikha Anirban to pay tribute to Bangladesh’s fallen heroes.
