PIA returns to UK skies, first Islamabad–Manchester flight tomorrow

ISLAMABAD: After a suspension of five years and three months, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume its direct flight operations to the United Kingdom from tomorrow, 25th October.

According to the PIA spokesperson, the first flight will depart from Islamabad to Manchester, marking the official restart of PIA’s UK flight operations. All necessary arrangements for the resumption have been completed at Islamabad International Airport.

To commemorate the occasion, a special ceremony will be held at the airport, where Defence Minister Khawaja Asif will attend as the chief guest. A large portrait of Manchester’s cityscape has also been displayed inside the airport terminal to celebrate the relaunch of direct flights.

It is worth mentioning that PIA’s operations to the UK were suspended on July 1, 2020, following a statement by then Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan in the National Assembly regarding issues related to pilots’ licenses.
