ISLAMABAD: The federal government has officially imposed a ban on the religious group Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), declaring it a proscribed organization under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
According to a notification issued on Thursday, the Interior Ministry has declared TLP as a banned outfit under Section 11B, Clause 1A of the Anti-Terrorism Act, citing its involvement in terrorism-related activities.
The notification stated that the government has found evidence linking TLP to acts of terrorism. Following the decision, the group’s name has been added to the First Schedule of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Copies of the notification have been forwarded to governors, chief secretaries, and inspector generals of all four provinces, as well as to national security and intelligence agencies, including NACTA, FIA, ISI, and MI.

The Interior Ministry has directed all relevant authorities to take immediate action in accordance with the law. A copy of the notification has also been sent to the TLP leadership.
