Islamabad: The National Cyber Crimes Investigation Agency (NCCIA) Islamabad has registered a case under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 against a female Member of the National Assembly, Shandana Gulzar Khan, over allegations of spreading anti-state propaganda on social media.
According to NCCIA sources, FIR No. 296/2025 has been filed against Shandana Gulzar Khan for allegedly posting and sharing misleading and fabricated content on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
The investigation revealed that the accused had shared multiple fake and misleading tweets and videos containing hate-driven and inflammatory statements against state institutions. The content reportedly aimed to provoke ethnic and linguistic hatred and create public distrust in state organs.
The NCCIA report further stated that Shandana Gulzar disseminated a doctored image and false information regarding the Prime Minister of Pakistan, falsely linking him to a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister. This fabricated news, investigators said, was deliberately spread to incite fear, unrest, and confusion among the public.
The inquiry concluded that the accused had intentionally promoted an anti-state narrative through fake news and digital manipulation. Consequently, a formal case has been registered against her under Sections 11, 20, and 26-A of PECA 2016.
Authorities confirmed that further investigations are underway to identify additional individuals and networks involved in the anti-state digital campaign.
