TikTok removes 25.4m videos in Pakistan over guideline violations

WEB DESK: TikTok has released its Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the second quarter of 2025, reaffirming its commitment to creating a safe and responsible digital environment for users worldwide.

According to the report, TikTok removed 25.4 million videos in Pakistan between April and June 2025 for violating its community guidelines. This represents one of the highest volumes of content removals globally. The company stated that 99.7 percent of the violative content in Pakistan was proactively detected and taken down, while 96.2 percent of the videos were removed within 24 hours of being uploaded.

On a global scale, TikTok deleted over 189 million videos, amounting to 0.7 percent of all uploaded content, due to violations. Of these, 163.9 million videos were removed through automated detection systems, showcasing the platform’s growing reliance on AI-driven moderation. Additionally, 7.4 million videos were reinstated after human review determined they did not breach community standards.

The report also highlighted that TikTok removed 76.9 million fake accounts during the period, along with 25.9 million accounts linked to underage users.

In terms of content categories, 30.6 percent of the removed videos contained adult or sensitive material, 14 percent violated ethical and safety standards, while 45 percent were flagged for misinformation. Moreover, 23.8 percent of the deleted videos were edited or AI-generated content found to be misleading.

TikTok said its moderation efforts are part of a broader initiative to protect users, uphold community trust, and ensure that harmful or misleading material is promptly addressed. The platform reaffirmed that creating a safe, authentic, and positive digital experience remains central to its mission.
