RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench has ordered the restoration of the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) of Arshad Khan, popularly known as Chaiwala.

Following the court’s directives, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has reactivated his CNIC after the NADRA Verification Board confirmed his citizenship.

Arshad Khan’s lawyer, Advocate Umer Ijaz Gilani, informed the court that his client’s issue had been resolved. On his submission, the court disposed of the petition.

Previously, NADRA had blocked Arshad Khan’s CNIC and passport, a move the court termed a violation of fundamental constitutional rights. The lawyer further stated that the verification process had clearly established Arshad Khan ‘Chaiwala’ and his family as bonafide Pakistani citizens.

With the matter resolved, the court dismissed the case.
