MUZAFFARABAD: Authorities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have issued a strict deadline of November 18 for the expulsion of all Afghan refugees residing in the region.
According to an official notification issued by the AJK Police Department, Afghan nationals must leave the territory by the set date under a three-step repatriation plan. The directive makes it clear that the deadline is final, regardless of the availability of government transport facilities.
The notification orders district officials to ensure complete supervision of the repatriation process, with strict accountability measures in place. In case of non-compliance, SHOs, SPs, and branch officers will be dismissed from service, while disciplinary action will also be taken against district officers found negligent.
Police, CTD, and Special Branch have been tasked with preparing updated lists of Afghan refugees. After the repatriation process, each district will be required to submit a written certificate confirming the removal of all Afghan nationals.
Security agencies have also been directed to submit daily reports to ensure no Afghan refugee remains in AJK beyond the deadline.
