5.6-magnitude earthquake jolts parts of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Tremors were felt in several parts of Pakistan, including the federal capital, on Friday evening after a 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck the region.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicentre of the quake was located in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region, with a depth of 120 kilometres.

The National Seismic Monitoring Centre confirmed that strong shocks were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Chitral, Swat, Gilgit, Abbottabad, and nearby areas.

However, there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.
