ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, visited the United States as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral maritime cooperation and defence engagements, the Pakistan Navy said on Thursday.
During the visit, Naval chief Admiral Ashraf met US Deputy Chief of Naval Operations Vice Admiral Yvette Davids and Acting Vice Commandant of the US Coast Guard Vice Admiral Thomas G. Allan Jr. Discussions focused on regional security dynamics, professional training, and opportunities for enhanced maritime collaboration.
The Naval Chief also visited the US National Defence University (NDU) where he met President Vice Admiral Peter A. Garvin. At the US State Department, he held talks with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Political-Military Affairs Stanley L. Brown on politico-military cooperation, capacity building, and shared maritime interests.

Address to scholars
Admiral Ashraf addressed a gathering of US scholars and think-tank experts, underlining regional maritime security challenges and Pakistan Navy’s contributions to collaborative initiatives in the Indian Ocean region.

The visit, officials said, reflects the enduring defence partnership between Pakistan and the United States and reaffirms mutual commitment to promoting maritime security in the region and beyond.
