Internet speed restored after submarine cable maintenance: PTCL

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) on Tuesday announced the successful completion of repair work on a faulty repeater in its undersea cable system, restoring internet speed and connectivity across the country.

The maintenance operation, which began on the morning of October 14, was carried out by the International Cable Consortium. PTCL confirmed that following the repair, internet services had returned to normal and the network was now operating optimally, ensuring improved online access nationwide.

Earlier, the company had cautioned users about possible degradation and partial disruption of services during the repair activity. In a statement, PTCL said the repair was necessary to address the technical fault affecting the submarine cable system.

Pakistan has experienced several internet outages in recent years due to submarine cable faults. Authorities have pledged to strengthen digital infrastructure and expand connectivity, with plans to introduce 5G services in major cities in the coming months.
