ISLAMABAD – The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) announced that Pakistan’s first Hyperspectral Satellite (HS-1) will be launched from China on October 19, 2025.
According to Pakistan space & upper atmosphere research commission (SUPARCO), the satellite is set to play a transformative role in agriculture, urban development, and environmental monitoring. Equipped with advanced data calibration capabilities, HS-1 will support precision agriculture, enabling accurate crop monitoring, soil analysis, and water management. Experts estimate the technology could boost crop yields by 15 to 20 percent.
Beyond agriculture, HS-1 will contribute to disaster management by predicting floods, landslides, and other natural calamities, as well as assisting in climate change monitoring and geological hazard detection.
The satellite will also enhance infrastructure mapping and urban planning, providing detailed imaging to support sustainable development across the country.
