Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a cordial meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of the Peace Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh. Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa also joined the meeting and exchanged views with the two leaders.

President Mahmoud Abbas thanked Pakistan for its longstanding support to the Palestinian cause and for consistently extending political and diplomatic assistance. The two leaders met warmly in an informal interaction ahead of the signing of the ceasefire agreement in Sharm El-Sheikh.

Both sides reaffirmed that the brotherly ties between Pakistan and Palestine are exemplary and a matter of pride for their leadership and peoples.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif paid tribute to the resilient people of Gaza for their courage and steadfastness in the face of hardships over the years.

The leaders expressed satisfaction over the ceasefire in Gaza, terming it a positive step towards peace in the region and a pathway to progress and prosperity for the Palestinian people.
