PM Shehbaz Meets Kuwaiti Crown Prince on UNGA Sidelines

NEW YORK: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, who is in New York to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, held a bilateral meeting on Monday with His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait.

The meeting was described as warm and cordial, with the Prime Minister recalling the historic fraternal ties between Pakistan and Kuwait. He conveyed his respects and good wishes for the Amir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and thanked the Kuwaiti leadership for its solidarity following the devastating floods in Pakistan.

Expressing satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized Pakistan’s desire to expand cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, livestock, manpower export and healthcare. He also conveyed Pakistan’s readiness to host the Kuwaiti Crown Prince for an official visit later this year, with dates being finalized through diplomatic channels.

The two leaders also exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the situation in the Middle East. The Crown Prince appreciated Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in highlighting the plight of Palestinians at the global stage and acknowledged its constructive role in promoting peace in the region.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working closely, both bilaterally and through multilateral platforms, to advance common objectives of peace, stability and prosperity.
