Ziarat Assistant Commissioner, Son Killed After Month-Long Abduction

QUETTA: Ziarat Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Afzal and his son, who had been abducted nearly a month ago, were killed by their captors, official sources confirmed on Sunday.

According to details, the kidnappers shot the officer and his son before dumping their bodies in the mountainous area of Ziarat. Law enforcement agencies have begun the recovery process.

The tragic development has drawn widespread condemnation from the provincial leadership. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly denounced the killings, terming them a “cowardly and brutal act.” He described the slain officer as a dedicated and capable official who laid down his life while serving the nation.

“Those who kill innocent people and disrupt peace will not escape their fate,” CM Bugti declared, while expressing condolences to the bereaved family.

Balochistan Governor Jaffar Mandokhail also expressed deep grief over the incident, saying the sacrifice of Afzal and his son would not go in vain. He urged law enforcement agencies to apprehend those involved and bring them to justice.

Security forces have launched an operation in the region to track down the perpetrators.
