ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will represent Pakistan at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York starting September 22, the Foreign Office spokesperson confirmed on Thursday.
He will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with other cabinet members.
According to the spokesperson, the Prime Minister’s address to the UNGA will highlight the disputes of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine, drawing attention to the grave humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He will urge the international community to take decisive steps to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.
The Prime Minister will also present Pakistan’s position on regional security, climate change, counterterrorism, and Islamophobia, while reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to the UN Charter.
During his visit, he will participate in meetings of the UN Security Council and other high-level forums, including the Global Development Initiative and Climate Action Summit.

Prime Minister Shehbaz is also scheduled to attend a session with U.S. President Donald Trump and leaders of Islamic countries, and hold bilateral meetings with world leaders and senior UN officials.
The spokesperson said the Prime Minister will reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism, while underlining the country’s role in promoting global peace and prosperity.
