ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman Maj-Gen (retd) Hafeezur Rehman has filed an intra-court appeal against the Islamabad High Court’s decision removing him from office.
The appeal, filed under the 1972 Ordinance, argues that his appointment was made in accordance with laws and regulations, and that he has been performing his duties legally as chairman.
According to the record, Hafeezur Rehman was first appointed as Member (Administration) of PTA on May 24, 2023, and the very next day, May 25, 2023, he was elevated to chairman.

Earlier today, IHC Judge Justice Babar Sattar announced a reserved verdict, ruling that the PTA chairman’s appointment was unlawful and ordering his removal.
In his petition, the chairman requested that the intra-court appeal be fixed for an urgent hearing to establish the legality of his appointment.
