ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court Building Committee (SCBC) , chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi, approved the master plan for the proposed construction of the Supreme Court Branch Registry in Karachi.
The meeting of SCBC was attended by Justice Jamal Mandokhail, Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui, Justice Aamer Farooq, and Registrar Muhammad Saleem Khan. The Chief Engineer of Sindh gave a detailed briefing on the project.
The committee was informed that the project will be completed under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and will include courtrooms, offices, public facilities, and amenities for lawyers.
Declaring the proposal for expansion at the existing site unsustainable and impractical, the committee decided to shift the project to a new location and remove obstacles caused by a nearby stormwater drain.
It was further decided that all aspects of the project will comply with legal, environmental, and urban planning principles, while ensuring sustainability and long-term stability.
