ISLAMABAD: Chinese Chargé d’Affaires Shi Yanqiang on Thursday visited the National Emergencies Operations Centre (NEOC) at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), where he was briefed on the recent flood situation and the ongoing relief operations.
NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik gave a detailed overview of rescue and relief measures undertaken in the flood-hit areas, besides outlining the authority’s coordination with provincial and regional institutions. Officials also highlighted the use of advanced technology and weather monitoring tools to improve preparedness and ensure timely response to disasters.

The Chinese diplomat praised the NDMA’s timely interventions and termed Pakistan’s disaster response system effective. He assured continued support from Beijing for Pakistan’s flood-affected population.

According to officials, the envoy was also briefed on ongoing rehabilitation efforts and the authority’s joint initiatives with local agencies to mitigate the impact of natural calamities.
