LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Sanaullah emerged victorious in the Senate by-election on Tuesday, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.
The seat fell vacant after PTI’s Ejaz Chaudhry was disqualified following his conviction in the May 9 cases. Polling was held at the Punjab Assembly from 9am to 4pm, with 251 votes cast in total and only one ballot rejected. Rana Sanaullah, needing 181 votes to win, comfortably crossed the mark with a decisive margin.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Salma Ejaz failed to secure a single vote as the opposition boycotted the polling. Provincial Election Commissioner and Returning Officer Sharifullah announced the result after completion of the count.
