LAHORE: A local court on Monday sent popular YouTuber Saadur Rehman — better known as Ducky Bhai — to jail on judicial remand for 14 days in a case pertaining to the alleged promotion of online gambling and betting platforms.

Rehman, who was arrested last month at Lahore airport by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), was produced before the court at the end of his physical remand.

The NCCIA sought an extension in his custody for further interrogation, but the court dismissed the request and ordered that he be sent to jail.

On Friday, his physical remand was extended for three days, following an earlier two-day extension granted on September 3. His initial remand lasted from August 28 to September 1.

The case was registered on August 17 by the state through the NCCIA, invoking multiple provisions of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act, 2016, alongside Sections 294-B and 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

According to the FIR, the YouTuber is accused of promoting online gambling and betting apps, including Binomo and 1xBet, via his YouTube channel.

This is not the first time Ducky Bhai has faced legal trouble. Earlier this year, motorway police booked him for performing dangerous stunts while driving.

With over 700 videos and more than 8 million subscribers, Ducky Bhai is one of Pakistan’s most prominent digital content creators.
