Kazakh DPM Nurtleu arrives in Islamabad for two-day visit

Islamabad: Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu arrived in Islamabad on Monday for a two-day official visit aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.

He was received at the airport by Additional Secretary (West Asia) Syed Ali Asad Gillani and other senior officials, the Foreign Office said. Nurtleu is accompanied by a 13-member high-level delegation, including the Kazakh minister of transport.

According to FO spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, meetings of the Joint Working Groups on Agriculture and Information Technology will also be held on the sidelines of the visit.

During his stay, Nurtleu will hold a one-on-one meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, followed by delegation-level talks. He is also scheduled to call on President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Officials said the talks will provide an opportunity to review preparations for the upcoming Kazakh presidential visit to Pakistan, while exploring avenues to expand cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, education, cultural and tourism exchanges, regional connectivity and logistics, as well as collaboration at multilateral forums.

“The visit of the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan will further cement the longstanding Pakistan-Kazakhstan ties and contribute to deepening bilateral engagements in diverse fields, for the benefit of the people of the two countries,” the FO spokesperson added.
