ISLAMABAD — The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on Sunday observed Martyrs’ Day with reverence and solemnity across all its bases nationwide, paying tribute to the sacrifices of its fallen heroes.
The day began with special prayers and Quran Khawani for the martyrs of the 1965 and 1971 wars, as well as those who have laid down their lives in the line of duty since the creation of Pakistan.
The central ceremony was held at Air Headquarters, Islamabad, with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, attending as chief guest.
In his address, the Air Chief highlighted the PAF’s legacy of sacrifice, courage, and professionalism, describing Martyrs’ Day as a symbol of the Armed Forces’ “extraordinary bravery, impeccable professionalism and unparalleled spirit of sacrifice.” He noted that, in the face of rapidly changing security dynamics, the PAF remained fully committed to its mission.

Citing the PAF’s recent operational achievements in Marka-e-Haq / Bunyan-um-Marsoos, he said the victories reaffirmed the force’s will and capability to defend the nation’s aerial frontiers.
Paying homage to the fallen heroes, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu said the nation owed “an eternal debt of gratitude” to its martyrs, whose sacrifices would continue to inspire future generations. He also reaffirmed solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their struggle for the right to self-determination.
Concluding his remarks, the Air Chief pledged to enhance the PAF’s role in safeguarding national sovereignty, emphasizing the importance of developing capabilities in space, cyber technologies, electronic warfare, niche domains, and indigenous defence production.
Later, the Air Chief laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument and offered Fateha for the departed souls.
