PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have launched a province-wide crackdown on TikTokers for allegedly producing and uploading indecent videos, following a series of public complaints.

According to officials, Mardan police registered cases against seven TikTokers and arrested four of them during a major operation. Police said the accused had built large followings by posting objectionable content and were booked under cybercrime laws.

Similar actions were reported in Swabi and Kohat, where police arrested a youth for flaunting firearms and throwing cash in his videos. In Peshawar, two women were also taken into custody for uploading indecent clips.

Police said both male and female influencers were under close watch, warning that “obscene content on social media is intolerable” and further arrests would follow.

Authorities also released videos of some detained TikTokers apologising to the public and pledging not to share objectionable material again.

Peshawar SSP (Operations) Masood Ahmed said police were collecting data of all influencers involved in such activities and letters were being written to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block accounts considered harmful to society.

He appealed to citizens to assist police by reporting TikTokers engaged in “spreading immorality.”

Separately, a petition was filed in the Peshawar High Court by social worker Saqibur Rehman, seeking action against TikTok live streams and games that he alleged mislead youth for money.

The petitioner contended that men and women were “forced to perform indecent acts under the guise of punishment” during live sessions, and urged the court to order removal of such content and impose stricter controls.
