RAWALPINDI: Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, faced an embarrassing situation on Friday when an egg was thrown at her outside Adiala Jail while she was addressing the media.
According to eyewitnesses, two girls emerged from the crowd and suddenly hurled an egg, which struck Ms Khan on the face. The unexpected act caused commotion as PTI workers and security personnel rushed to shield her.
Ms Khan appeared visibly shocked, while supporters briefly held back the two girls before police intervened and took them into custody.
Speaking to reporters after the incident, Ms Khan said she was not afraid of such attacks, adding that she knew “who was behind these acts”. PTI circles condemned the episode as a “cowardly act” and a sign of the “growing political intolerance” in the country.
Court relief for Aleema Khan’s sons
Earlier on Thursday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore granted post-arrest bail to Sher Shah, son of Aleema Khan and nephew of Imran Khan, in the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.

ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul approved the bail against surety bonds of Rs100,000. The defence counsel argued that no substantial evidence had been presented against Sher Shah, no challan had been filed, and several co-accused facing more serious allegations had already been granted bail.
The court was informed that Sher Shah had neither been accused of vandalism nor implicated through credible testimony. He was taken into custody on Aug 22 while attending his brother Shahrez Khan’s hearing in the same case.
A day earlier, the ATC had also granted bail to Shahrez Khan, observing that investigations, including geofencing and charge sheets, had not connected him to any offence.
Both brothers were accused of involvement in the May 9 unrest but the courts found insufficient evidence to justify their continued detention.
