LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday approved the post-arrest bail of Sher Shah, son of Aleema Khan and nephew of PTI founder Imran Khan, in the May 9 Jinnah House attack case.
ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul heard the plea, with Sher Shah’s lawyers Rana Muddasir and Barrister Taimoor representing him. Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan, as well as former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s wife, Mehreen Qureshi, were present during the hearing.
Advocate Muddasir argued that no challan had been submitted against his client and it was uncertain when the trial would commence. He maintained that Sher Shah could not be kept in custody indefinitely without evidence and stressed that his client had not participated in any act of violence.

The counsel pointed out that several suspects facing more serious charges had already secured bail, whereas Sher Shah had not been accused of vandalism. He added that one accused’s statement alone could not be used to implicate another.
After reserving the verdict, the court granted bail to Shah and ordered his release against surety bonds worth Rs100,000.
Sher Shah had been taken into custody on August 22 when he arrived at the court to attend proceedings related to his brother Shahrez’s case.
