Islamabad: The controversy over making Supreme Court meeting minutes public deepened on Wednesday as Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Munib Akhtar issued a fresh letter, challenging the contents of the minutes and presenting their own stance.
The two senior judges maintained that, as members of the committee, they had decided on October 31, 2024, that the matter concerning the 26th Constitutional Amendment should be placed before a full court. However, they said the case was not scheduled in violation of that decision.
They added that on November 4, they wrote another letter after the case still did not appear before the court. The judges complained that two notes written by the Chief Justice regarding their decision were never shared with them.

According to the letter, the CJP read out his note in a Judicial Commission meeting, even though the commission was not the competent forum to decide on the issue.
The judges also rejected the meeting minutes’ claim that the matter of bench formation had been referred to a constitutional bench and constitutional committee, pointing out that at that time no such bench or committee even existed.
