Most-wanted criminal killed in Taxila encounter

Rawalpindi: A most-wanted proclaimed offender, Aamir Shah, was killed in an exchange of fire with the Counter-Crime Department (CCD) team in Taxila on Sunday, police said. His accomplice managed to escape.

According to officials, Aamir Shah was wanted in more than a dozen murder cases and had long been a challenge for police and law enforcement agencies. He was also wanted in the killing of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) officers in Jhelum, as well as triple murder cases in Jatli, Rawalpindi and Sargodha.

Police said the CCD team received information about the suspect’s presence in the Taxila area. When the team tried to intercept the suspect, who was riding a motorcycle with his accomplice, they opened fire. In the retaliatory exchange, Aamir Shah was killed while his accomplice fled the scene.

Senior police officials reached the site soon after the incident. A search operation has been launched to arrest the absconding accomplice.

CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani praised the CCD regional officer and his team for their bravery in facing armed criminals. He said criminals who endanger citizens’ lives and property will not escape the law.
