Islamabad police intensify crackdown, 380 suspects arrested

Islamabad: The capital police have intensified their crackdown against criminals on the directives of Inspector General of Police, arresting 380 suspects involved in narcotics trade, possession of illegal weapons and other serious crimes over the past two weeks.

According to a police spokesperson, the arrested suspects include 213 proclaimed offenders wanted in heinous crimes. Separate cases have been registered against the accused.

During the operations, the police recovered over 18 kilogrammes of heroin, 19 kilogrammes of ice, two kilogrammes of hashish and 108 liquor bottles from drug dealers. In addition, 108 suspects involved in possession of illegal arms were arrested, with recoveries including 95 pistols of various bores, 15 guns along with ammunition, and 13 daggers.

DIG Islamabad Mohammad Jawad Tariq said that multiple targeted operations were carried out against drug traffickers and those possessing illegal weapons. He added that special police teams remain fully engaged in ensuring the safety of citizens.
