NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday met Benin’s Foreign Minister Corinne Amori Brunet on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, the two ministers signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the establishment of Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) between Pakistan and Benin.

The agreement will provide an institutional framework for regular dialogue and consultations between the two countries and is aimed at strengthening bilateral engagement.

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen Pakistan-Benin relations, particularly in the areas of economic and trade cooperation.

Dar and Brunet also exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and discussed ways to further expand engagement between the two countries.

The signing of the MoU is expected to provide a regular mechanism for consultations and help deepen political and economic cooperation between Pakistan and Benin.
