NEW YORK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met his Hungarian counterpart, Anita Orbán, on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.

Dar congratulated Orbán on assuming her office and conveyed his best wishes for a successful tenure.

The two foreign ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing Pakistan-Hungary cooperation in political, economic, trade and investment, business, education and people-to-people contacts.

Both sides stressed the importance of convening regular bilateral consultative mechanisms to maintain momentum in relations and ensure continued engagement between the two countries.

The ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments.

Dar underscored that dialogue and diplomacy remained the only viable means of addressing regional and international challenges and stressed the importance of all parties returning to the Islamabad MoU.

The two sides agreed to remain in close contact on bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest and continue consultations through diplomatic channels.
