WEB DESK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed a Chinese company’s proposal to modernise Pakistan’s grain storage infrastructure, saying the initiative would introduce advanced technology and strengthen the country’s agriculture and food security sectors.

The prime minister made the remarks during a meeting with a delegation led by FAMSUN Chief Executive Officer Jack Chen in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the delegation briefed PM Shehbaz on the company’s plan to establish a green silo demonstration centre in Pakistan, alongside the development of state-of-the-art grain storage facilities, technology transfer and workforce training programmes.

Shehbaz Sharif said the project would help enhance commercial activity and support the country’s agricultural development. He added that the economic partnership between Pakistan and China continued to grow stronger, creating new opportunities for investment and cooperation.

The prime minister stressed that business-to-business collaboration would further deepen the longstanding friendship between the two countries and emphasised that skills development and training of Pakistan’s workforce should remain an integral part of such projects.

FAMSUN CEO Jack Chen thanked the prime minister and the government for their hospitality, recalling his recent meeting with PM Shehbaz during the latter’s visit to China, which laid the foundation for discussions on practical measures to enhance Pakistan’s food security.

Chen reaffirmed FAMSUN’s commitment to supporting Pakistan through modern grain storage solutions, technology transfer and capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s agricultural sector.
